US Citizens Will Now Have To Register For ETIAS To Travel Through Europe

Other than the total 44 countries that belong to the continent of Europe, There are other 62 countries in the world that are allowed to roam and stay visa-free in the European nations but now the continent is making some changes into its travel authorization system and introducing a latest visa-waiver system for this kind of citizens. Now, the citizens who were earlier allowed to enter the continent without having to carry their visas will now need ETIAS.

The 62 countries that are allowed to visit Europe without having to acquire their visas also include the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc. ETIAS EU will be compulsory for entering Europe and the countries falling into the Schengen border from 1st January 2021.

From these 44 countries that fall under the continent of Europe, there are a total of 26 countries that are a member of Schengen border countries. They include Italy, Germany, Finland, Iceland, Hungary, Austria, Sweden, etc. The European Union has introduced this new travel Authorization system to deal with criminal activities or terrorism, The security at the airports of Europe is also going to be strict. Apart from this, ETIAS will also help the European Union in dealing with immigration issues.

The ETIAS will permit you to stay in Europe for three months at once without your visa. The validity of your ETIAS will be three years from the date of issue. But they will expire immediately in case your passport expires before it.

To apply for ETIAS visit the official site and fill out an application form. You will just need to fill the basic details for verification like your name, date of birth, place of birth, gender, nationality, etc. You will receive the decision about the approval of your ETIAS within minutes. You will need a valid passport for applying for this new visa waiver system.

It will be mandatory for everyone regardless of age, which means minors and old-age people will also have to apply for their own travel authorization system. You will have to pay a nominal charge for applying for the European Travel Information and Authorization System. The fees for applying for ETIAS will be 7 euros but it will be absolutely free if you are a minor (children below the age of 18) and old-age person (person above the age of 70).

You can use your ETIAS to stay in the European Nations for four purposes, it includes transit, medical, tourism, and business. ETIAS will not be valid if the purpose of your stay is related to job and education.

The proposal of ETIAS was finalised in November 2016, but they will be in action from 2021. From 1st January 2021 onward no citizens that earlier did not need a visa will not be allowed to enter Europe without having approved ETIAS. The visitors who need a visa to travel in Europe will remain unaffected with the introduction of this new travel authorization system.
